The slider is the slideshow of images near the top of your homepage.
You can copy this free Canva template, which is in the correct dimensions, to create a new slide and upload it to your Media Library. Canva has a free-to-use account you will need to sign up for and log in to before you can copy the template.
Please copy the template before you alter it so it can be used by others. To make a copy, click on File in the upper left hand corner and click Make a Copy.
To add a new slide, open the front end editor on the homepage.

Hover over the slider and click on the "Setting" icon, the blue wrench.

Make sure the "Slides" tab is selected. If you're trying to add a new slide, click on "Add Slide". If you are trying to make changes to an existing slide, click on "Edit Slide" on the slide you're changing.
You can rearrange the order the slides appear in by moving the slides higher or lower in the list. The slideshow will show slides at the top first, then go through each slide following. To move a slide, click and hold the multidirectional arrows symbol and drag it to your desired position.
You can also duplicate or delete a slide by hovering over those respective icons to the right of each slide.

Tip: If you want to easily create a new slide that has the same style of text, text box, and button as your other slides, duplicate one of your other slides and edit it instead of creating a new slide and starting from scratch.
When you first create a new slide, click the Edit button to start adding your image and text. When creating slides, it's a good idea to give it a distinct label so you can recognize what each slide is for in the builder.

In the "General" tab, choose the type of background you would like the slide to have. Most slides will have photos as their backgrounds. To select the image you would like as the slide's background, click "Select Photo," and it will display options to upload a new image. You can also select one that is in your Media folder already.

If you want to change the background image, click on "Remove," then add your new image.

You can use a tool such as Canva (free), Photoshop, etc. to create your graphics. You can also find high-quality, copyright-free images on sites such as https://unsplash.com or https://pixabay.com. We recommend the size 1440 pixels by 518 pixels. This is a bit larger than the slider dimensions.
While creating your graphic, it's good to keep in mind that when you upload your picture to Wordpress, it creates several copies of the image in different sizes. Smaller sizes will sometimes crop out details around the edge to fit on smaller screens. It's a good idea to keep the content of the image as close to the centre as possible so the important details show consistently across screen sizes. You should activate Responsive Editing to get an idea of how the slide looks on different devices.

If you want to adjust the height of the content slider to include larger images, you can do so by leaving the slide settings and going to Style to adjust the height of the slider. Be aware, this will affect all the images in your slider, as it changes the dimensions of the slider itself.

When you scroll down in the General tab, you'll see the Content Layout area. Here, you can choose to display text, text and a photo, or text and a video. You can edit the slide's content using their respective sections. The text's style can be adjusted in the style tab.

You can redirect users to another page when they click on your slide. To do this, navigate to the "Link" tab and paste the link you would like to direct users to when they click on the slide. We usually check off the "New Window" option when the link is directing the users to any domains outside your own.

If you would like there to a button for users to click, change the Call to Action type to button. You can change the button text and styling below.

Click on "Save", which brings you back to the list of all the slides. When you are finished with the slider, click "Save" again to close the slider settings. Pressing "Done" in the upper right hand corner and then "Publish" makes your changes live on your site!
